Tumescent Catheter Inversion (TCI™)
TCI™ is a minimally invasive method for the removal of the saphenous vein in the leg. It represents a significant improvement over traditional vein stripping. While stripping relies of the force exerted by the surgeon to remove the vein, TCI™ uses pressurized tumescent fluid to assist in vein removal and to minimize or eliminate bleeding during and after the removal. In addition, the vein is inverted and removed “inside out”. This helps minimize the trauma to the surrounding tissues.
The catheter is inserted in the groin through a one-inch incision and is removed near the knee through a ¼ inch incision. The procedure is usually performed under anesthesia in combination with TriVex®.
Saphenous vein removal with TCI™ can be performed in 10 minutes with minimal discomfort and minimal bruising.
